Catch Dinner and a Show in Glenwood Springs

The Glenwood Vaudeville Revue and the Riviera Supper Club artfully blend cuisine and entertainment.

Glenwood Vaudeville Revue
Dramatic readings, melodrama, and comedic shticks are the meat and potatoes of Glenwood Springs’ very own dinner theater, the Glenwood Vaudeville Revue. At every performance, the house is packed with visitors who come for a family friendly night of levity served with a side of garlic bread.

The main ingredient of the show is its cast of theater professionals. Comedic timing, delivering a line, and keeping a straight face while doing so are the skills of veteran performers. Each season, owner John Goss and his troupe of vaudevillians conjure new material that keeps audiences hungry for more.

The cast also serves the crowd dinner and drinks, with a bit of cheeky attitude free of charge. Meals are prepared daily by Glenwood Springs’ restaurants, including the 19th Street Diner, K-Seas, and the Lost Cajun. For show times, visit the Glenwood Vaudeville Revue.

The Riviera Supper Club & Piano Bar
For fine dining with a side of musical nostalgia, bebop over to Riviera Supper Club, a landmark that dates back to 1947. Owner Jonathan Gorst reestablished the supper club format when he purchased the restaurant in 2016. Now, he and his fellow troubadours entertain diners every night of the week starting at 7 p.m.

As a music man with a Broadway past, Gorst loves to showboat for audiences, playing from the Great American Songbook. He regularly transports diners to “times gone by.” If those words ring a bell, you’re in luck; tunes from Les Miserables are among Gorst’s favorites to perform, including the hit “I Dreamed a Dream.”

Periodically, the Riviera also hosts mystery dinner theater nights when diners are encouraged to dress in costume. The evenings are by reservations only and feature a prix fixe menu, music, and of course a mystery to solve. The Riviera is also one of the few restaurants in town that accepts reservations for dinner.

As a restaurateur, from the lobster to the prime rib, Gorst’s business partner Travis Owen presents a menu that receives rave reviews. His wine selection, which includes 60 different labels—all available by the glass—is another reason to visit “The Riv.”
