Row Your Boat Gently On Our Lakes and Streams

Canoeing

Spend an afternoon paddling a placid lake or a slow-moving section of the Colorado River. Row your boat on Ruedi Reservoir above Basalt, Harvey Gap near Rifle and lakes scattered across the Flat Tops north of Glenwood Springs. There are sections of the Colorado River that are wide and calm and offer excellent canoeing opportunities. If you don’t have your own boat, you can rent equipment from outfitters in Glenwood Springs. It’s always a good idea to check on river and lake conditions before heading out. Sporting goods and adventure businesses in town can advise where the best places to paddle are given the water conditions and time of year.

Always err on the side of safety. If you rent gear, life jackets will be provided, otherwise be sure to bring your own. Being so close the water, you may not feel like you need sunscreen, but Glenwood Springs, Colorado is a sunny place, pack it and use it. You can thank us later.
