We Take Fun to New Heights
Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park & Historic Fairy Caves
Take your next adventure to new heights at this Western-themed adventure park. Perched at an altitude of 7,160 feet on the side of Iron Mountain, the panoramic vistas from Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park are picture perfect. But great views of Mount Sopris, the Colorado River and Glenwood Springs are only the beginning.
Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park features several scream-worthy thrill rides that will get your adrenaline pumping and have you coming back for more.
Cliffhanger Roller Coaster – Heart-stopping drops and cliff-side curves that lean out over Glenwood Canyon are a mainstay on the highest elevation roller coaster in North America.
Giant Canyon Swing -- This swing launches you out over Glenwood Canyon, 1,300 feet above the Colorado River at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour!
Soaring Eagle Zip Ride -- Feel the wind on your face on the two-person, seated zip ride as you smoothly soar 625 feet down the mountain, just like an eagle!
Alpine Coaster – Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is the home of the first and longest alpine coaster in the United States! The popular ride combines everything you love about roller coasters, except you are in control of your speed. Let the throttle out and race down 3,400 feet! Be sure to enjoy the views on the ride back to the starting point.
Some rides and attractions are seasonal. Rides may be closed at any time due to weather or maintenance. Please check with Iron Mountain Tram personnel at the base before purchasing tickets.
Catch your Breath
When you’re ready to take a break from high adventure, try one of the Park’s other diversions. Play laser tag, experience a 4-D movie, climb aboard a Conestoga wagon simulation, get lost in the Fort WhereAmI Maze, ride the Wild West Coaster, pan for gemstones at the Discovery Rock Sluice Box, climb a wall and get your old-time photo taken at Silk’s Saloon Photos. When you get hungry, and you will, stop by the Snack Shack for sno-cones, ice cream, brats and cold beer. For a sit-down meal, head to the Lookout Grille which features unimpeded views of Glenwood Springs and delicious food.
No visit to Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park would be complete without a visit to the historic Fairy Caves, and the cost of admission to them is included in every all-day pass. Guides lead visitors underground where they can glimpse a subterranean world formed millions of years ago. Majestic stalagmites, stalactites and unusual crystalline formations are tastefully illuminated to showcase the pristine cavern interior. Inside the magnificent five-story room called the Barn, see delicate soda straws and strange cave bacon. King’s Row is a massive underground open area containing hundreds of glittering cave formations with charming, often comical names.
The Glenwood Caverns will be opening a new section of the cave, that has never been open to the public before! Starting May 10th, 2013 all cave visitors will be able to see the new (but actually really really old!) cave! To watch a video click here!
