The beat goes on in Glenwood Springs, where the music scene is an integral part of the summer experience in Colorado’s most famous hot springs town.
Take in a concert at the park, amid a historical setting, with a meal and even in the hot springs pool! It’s all part of an upbeat summer experience in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.
Summer of Music.
This beloved summer event takes place every Wednesday night in Two Rivers Park, through August 1. Opening acts start at 6:30 p.m. and headliners begin at 7:15 p.m. Summer of Music is a true community event. Concert goers often show up early to stake out their spot on the lawn and socialize. Kids usually get the dance party started, but it isn’t long before grown-ups let loose too.
Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park.
The mountain-top theme park has a couple of options for music lovers. Its Music on the Mountain concert series takes center stage in August and September, while Friday Afternoon Club on the Mountain runs continuously through Aug. 10. For either one, thanks to the park’s can-for-a-tram program: you can ride the Iron Mountain Tramway for free when you bring a canned food item to the tram base, which the company will then donate to the local food pantry.
Sunset Sounds at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort.
Every Tuesday night from 6 – 9 p.m., swim, soak and float while talented musical artists strum, pluck and play poolside. From rock and roll classics to soulful blues, this is one of Glenwood’s most unusual and fun musical experiences. Sunset Sounds concerts are free to pool-goers and begin at 6 p.m., the same time pool admission drops to below $20.
The Hotel Colorado.
Enjoy dinner al fresco, your favorite cocktail or a craft beer in the outdoor courtyard of the historic Hotel Colorado as Rodrigo Arreguin, a classical guitarist, lays down familiar tunes and a mix of blues, R&B, jazz, gypsy and Latin American beats on Friday nights throughout the summer. A fountain and koi pond, lush foliage, outdoor dining tables and braziers surrounded by rustic log chairs welcome guests to kick back and relax to his acoustic stylings.
The Riviera Supper Club & Piano Bar.
Want a gourmet dining experience and top talent entertainment all in one place? The Riv, as it’s called by locals, is a landmark dining establishment located along Seventh St. on Glenwood’s famous restaurant row. Jonathan Gorst, one of the owners, was the musical director for Broadway’s Phantom of the Opera and keeps his showmanship skills sharp by playing showtunes to appreciative diners.
Another great venue with good vibes and great food is Rivers Restaurant, located south of town. The outdoor deck that overlooks the Roaring Fork River is a pretty and popular spot for gathering and listening to live music. Verify with restaurant staff, but bands usually play on Friday nights from 6 – 9 p.m. There’s no cover charge; so come for a drink, good eats and smooth sounds.
